VIOLENCE PREVENTION IS EVERYONE'S RESPONSIBILITY

Community Outreach Grants

Violence Prevention Month (V.P.M.) is February of each year.  The goal of V.P.M. is to raise public awareness of inequality and violence and to recognize the efforts of communities across Canada to increase awareness of these crucial issues.

Since 2011, Western Regional Coalition to End Violence has supported this goal by providing Violence Prevention Month Community Outreach Grants.

A limited number of V.P.M. Community Outreach Grants of up to $200 each will be available to implement community projects throughout Western Newfoundland and Labrador.  To date, the Coalition has distributed over 30 grants throughout Western Newfoundland and Labrador.

Some examples of V.P.M. activities include:
  • Lunch and learns or community presentations
  • Essay or poster contests
  • Theme days (e.g., Respect Day, Anti-Bullying Day)
  • Anti-violence youth events
  • Social events (e.g., community breakfast, coffee break at your workplace)
  • Dramatic productions

Please contact us for more information about grant guidelines and to inquire about when applications will be available for February, 2013.
